Fall 2024 on Glitch, Part 2

I saw a saying the other day that went something like, ”Even nature takes a break each year, you deserve one too.” It made me think about our culture of always busy, always shipping, always doing, always going…and wonder, where did that come from?

I believe that, like happiness, feeling rested is a choice and not a destination. I choose to create opportunities to rest in multiple ways: taking naps and getting enough sleep at night (obvious), treating myself to things that comfort me when I’m feeling worn down, or putting boundaries around my most cherished possessions: my time and attention. What this looks like is deciding to not use my after work hours to worry or plan anything related to work. It takes a lot of practice, but I’m finally in a place where I can successfully put something away until the next day.

Whatever rest looks like for you as we head into a new year, I hope you take the chance to embrace it and reflect on all of the ways you showed up this year. Until then, let’s get into part two of how the Glitch Community showed up this fall.
